What’s happening to me?! You’re the reincarnation of someone from another universe, who you previously thought was fictional. You’re getting their memories, thoughts and personality shining through because a tiny part of your brain will always be that person. However, due to the fact that you don’t have the same background as them it’s easy to see why there are differences between you and who you used to be. What exactly is The Agency? The Agency is an organisation that was set up by concerned individuals that wanted to find and aid other people going through their reincarnation. It has a hierarchy and rules that it follows very closely. There are the managers, who are more commonly known as Directors, and there are field agents and they’re known as Caretakers. There are also many other departments and positions within The Agency that often don’t have any contact with reincarnates. The Caretakers will often be your introduction to this sub culture. It’s their job to seek out new reincarnates and explain what’s happening to them, and they will be assigned to look after you until you’ve adjusted. The Agency is completely neutral and they don’t get involved in disputes between people unless they are personally drawn into it. Think of them like the United Nations, they are there to support and help but when it comes to physical action they can only fight back when attacked. Breaking neutrality is a fireable offence. The Agency is also the most useful organisation you'll come into contact with. There's Camelot and CORE, but The Agency can help you deal with any problems you have, anything from needing somewhere to live or needing a new job to specific problems with the reincarnation, and they also control the MTN. Please go here if you want more information. MTN? Magical Transportation Network. It was set up in the 1980’s and is a magically run transportation system that can take you anywhere in the world. It got off to a rocky start in the beginning, but it’s been perfected in the last ten years. Think of it as a cross between Harry Potter’s Portkeys and Star Trek’s transporters. They make some people feel a little bit queasy, but that’s a perfectly normal side effect. I’m a good/bad person and these memories are terrible/far too nice! What do I do? It happens, I’m afraid and there isn’t much that can be done about it. Once upon a time you were that person and it’s something you’re going to have to come to terms with. Your Caretaker will help you, but I’m afraid there’s no way of removing their memories, thoughts or voice from your head. I have the memories of a GIRL and I’m a MAN! Again, it happens. There also isn’t anything that can be done about it, you’re just going to have to live with it. My best friend isn’t a reincarnate, can I tell them? There are currently no secrecy rules in place so you can tell whoever you want about your special past. However, think about how it might sound to them if you suddenly tell them that you’re Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I doubt it would go down too well. You keep calling us reincarnates? Is that an official term? There isn’t an official term. Reincarnates is just a nice version. A lot better than ‘weirdo’s who have fictional memories’, isn’t it? What else do I need to know? One day you will have to pick a side. Good, evil or Agency. It can depend on you or your reincarnated personality. Both sides are fighting each other with The Agency attempting to keep the peace in the middle. You might be thinking that you don't want to join, in that case The Agency is the best bet for you. Very few people manage to stay completely out of the conflict. Wait a minute, does this have anything to do with CORE and Camelot that you mentioned earlier? Bingo! Camelot is traditionally the good side of the fight and CORE is traditionally the bad side. However, with all wars it’s subjective and it’s best that you just find somewhere that fits you. Both sides will try to sway you, and it’s best to just go with the one that appeals to you the most. It’s a war that’s been going on for so long no one really knows how it began, but it doesn’t look like it’s about to stop anytime soon. If you really want to stay out of it then I suggest you run as far away as possible. For more information please go to the pages on CORE and Camelot. What are the journals? The journals are on a secure network that's maintained and organised by the Agency. They'll set you up with one on your first meeting and you can use it to keep in touch with other reincarnates and get to know them. You can't actually be on the network if the Agency hasn't contacted you yet. Due to the fact that it’s a secure network you have to be logged on in order to comment or post. There is no ability to do so anonymously, if you wish to do so then I suggest you create an anonymous E-Mail account and do so via the Is it possible for me to share a body with Satan, God, or any other religious figure? As fun as that would be, no. While there are many different types of Gods (example: Dogma), Satans (example: DC's Lucifer)& etc.s, found in fictional veins, it would be a little redundant to have 4 versions of Satan running around and 5 versions of God working for The Agency or things of that nature. Plus, religion is a bit of a strange thing to deal with when it comes to a game like this and we would like very much to avoid strange(r than necessary) things here. There's a specific object from my previous life that I'm attached to, can I have it here too? Yes you can. There's a department of the Agency that deals with bringing objects from various universes. You'll get one or two items that are significant to you. What's the difference between the two IC communities? What should go where? So they have the memories of the fictional characters but the characters aren't "alive" so they speak in their minds? Um, sort of. With reincarnates there is a part of their brain that is their former self (be it Batman, Iago or Kermit the Frog). With some people this part manifests as a voice that can essentially take over the body but with some others they're just memories. The only rule we have regarding how much someone can be taken over by their reincarnate is that we don't allow it full time for more than a month. Would the fictional characters recognise the PB? Nope, there might be a bit of 'you look like...' but only in the same way that people can look alike. Not in a special 'you're my identical twin!' way or 'soandso is Julia Roberts!'. How do we handle dropped characters IC? Should we say they just never existed, or that they've gone about their lives, or will the other characters recognize that they're gone? It will depend on the character. If a player wants to drop someone and comes up with an IC reason why they're no longer around then we'll go with that reason. However, in a case where someone is removed for inactivity and no decision has been made then it will be presumed that they have left the community to go on with their lives, unless a player with characters close to them decides to do otherwise. For example, if somebody has their character's sister removed from the game with no IC reason why they would leave then we'll let the player decide what's going on with the sister. This will only be done with mod approval. Can the reincarnates feel/sense anything 'different' about other reincarnates that would serve to identify them to each other when they were face to face, or is the Agency the only ones who can actually identify reincarnates if the person doesn't disclose their fandom tagalong? No they can't, only the Agency knows who they are. Unless, of course the reincarnation has that ability - ie, are a Jedi/telepath etc. For characters who are distinctly different in different media, or have multiple 'versions' (for example, Jean Grey, who has a Movieverse incarnation, a mainstream comics incarnation, an Ultimate universe incarnation, and several cartoon incarnations), is it assumed that each 'version' has been reincarnated and that all 'versions' are in different people?. Each version can be reincarnated into different people - even at the same time. However, we only allow one version in play at any one time. So if we have a mainstream comics version of Jean Grey then no others would be allowed in play, regardless of how different they might be to the one in play. What are your thoughts on non-human characters being reincarnated in this game? Like Scuttle the seagull from The Little Mermaid, Mushu the dragon from Mulan, or Lumiere the candelabra from Beauty and the Beast? As long as the character has a personality in their canon then they can be played here. Regardless of whether they're human or not. For example, we have the Golden Harp from the Jack and the Beanstalk fairy tale. Are icons IC? Can characters see them? Yes, they are and yes, they can. Obviously take things like icon availability into account. A character might look like one specific role an actor played but due to icon availability they use icons from other roles. As well as things like what the pb is wearing specifically in the icon and the background of the icon. I really want to play a specific character but there's very little canon information on them. Can I? Yes you can. We do ask that if there's very little information then you give us your interpretation of their history and personality. For example, if you wished to play a character from Harry Potter who was just a name in the books then you'd either need to fill out a separate application for them (specifically just the history, personality and family sections) or link us to a previously approved application for another game if that's the version you wish to play. Can the characters see people's names on the journals? No. The Agency likes to offer reincarnates a certain amount of privacy so their names cannot be seen. Even if pictures of them can be, no one said the Agency was sensible! My preferred method of logging is to use googledocs/aim/over e-mail/threading in the comm. Which is preferred? There is no preference, as long as you and the person you're playing with is comfortable with what you're doing and it gets posted to the correct community then you can log however you want to. Although I do suggest googledocs for doing anything in advance. Do I need a chat program for the game? As long as there's a way for people to contact you then no. The mods like to have an E-mail address for you because they'll use it for plotting purposes, and most players use AIM but it's not necessary for the game. Can I use some generic icons for representational purposes or do they all need to be of the pb? As long as the majority of icons are of the pb then you can use representational ones as well. How long will it take a mod to get back to me about something? Usually we try to be as prompt as possible when responding to queries, however we do both live in different time zones and sometimes it will take a bit of time. If we haven't got back to you after three days then please get in touch with us. |
